According to Cooper, Stargate Universe "maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." It is "a completely separate, third entity" – as opposed to Stargate Atlantis, which was created as a spin-off from the first series Stargate SG-1. Like the first two series in the franchise, Stargate Universe will take place during the present time, not in the distant future. The show will be "set on a ship that was part of an Ancient experiment" to seed the galaxies with Stargates millions of years ago but that was prematurely ended by the Ancients' ascension. After placing Stargates throughout multiple galaxies, a second ship would follow up and explore. The basis of Stargate Universe is the ninth and final chevron, which previously unknown would serve to get to the first ship.

im a realy big fan of stargate sg1 and i hope that they will continue with season 11
there's no season 11,there's atlantis,and there'll be this stargate universe,that i hope it will be at least as good as sg-1,wich is brilliant...
i think it'll be a great disaster if it's going to be on the spaceship....not being on the spaceship all the time is what made stargate better than startrek....now they are just "milking the cow"
i mis the old siries so i hope it whil come a new one

A thought on Atlantis.....they just ended it with them landing on Earth.....what now?How they gonna kill the Wraith....and don't forget about the replicators, they still out there.
wow this is incredible, for long time I await for a good movie based in this TV show, is terrible that the show was canceled only because the director miss her Generic Viagra and lost the inspiration, you know what this show had a great future to become a new saga like star trek or inclusive starwar.
